Final year architecture studio at Monash University Art Design & Architecture (MADA).
The studio explored architectural responses to the redesign of the Sydney-based Interface Carpets factory that had been destroyed in a fire. Interface are globally recognised for their environmental sustainability achievements and the studio sought to explore how nature could be integrated in the fabric of the building to contribute to its environmental performance.
Jonathan and Tai taught a series of lectures on environmental design and environmental psychology. Students were introduced to Attention Restoration Theory and investigated architectural responses to the use of nature to both reduce stress and improve pro-environmental behaviours of staff in the factory environment.
